If thou but frown on me, or stir thy foot,
  Or teach thy hasty spleen to do me shame,
    I'll strike thee dead. Put up thy sword betime,
      Or I'll so maul you and your toasting-iron,
        That you shall think the devil has come from hell.
      - [Defiance]

If thou deny'st it, twenty times thou liest;
  And I will turn thy falsehood to thy heart,
    Where it was forged, with my rapier's point.
      - [Defiance]

If thou neglect'st or dolt unwillingly
  What I command, I'll rack thee with old cramps;
    Fill all thy bones with aches; make thee roar
      That beasts shall tremble at thy din.
      - [Aches]

If to do were as easy as to know what were good to do, chapels had been churches, and poor men's cottages, princes' palaces. It is a good divine that follows his own instructions: I can easier teach twenty what were good to be done, than be one of the twenty to follow mine own teaching.
      - [Advice]

If yon bethink yourself of any crime
  Unreconcil'd as yet to heaven and grace,
    Solicit for it straight.
      - [Prayer]

Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge, the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.
      - [Ignorance : Knowledge]

Ill deeds are doubled with an evil word.
      - [Evil]

In each cheek appears a pretty dimple;
  Love made those hollows; if himself were slain
    He might be buried in a tomb so simple;
      Foreknowing well, if there he came to lie,
        Why, there Love lived, and there he could not die.
      - [Dimples]

In friendship, as in love, we are often happier through our ignorance than our knowledge.
      - [Ignorance]

In her days, every man shall eat in safety,
  Under his own vine, what he plants; and sing
    The merry song of peace to all his neighbours.
      - [Peace]

In his livery
  Walk'd crowns and crownets; realms and islands were
    As plates dropp'd from his pocket.
      - [Power]

In idle wishes fools supinely stay;
  Be there a will, then wisdom finds a way.
      - [Wisdom]

In limited professions there's boundless theft.
      - [Theft]

In maiden meditation, fancy free.
      - [Fancy]

In persons grafted in a serious trust,
  Negligence is a crime.
      - [Negligence]

In sickness let me not so much say, am I getting better of my pain? as am I getting better for it?
      - [Sickness]

In silence sad,
  Trip we after the night's shade;
    We the globe can compass soon,
      Swifter than the wand'ring moon.
      - [Fairies]

In simple and pure soul I come to you.
      - [Candor]

In struggling with misfortunes lies the true proof of virtue.
      - [Fortitude]

In the dead vast and middle of the night.
      - [Midnight]

In the quick forge and working house of thought.
      - [Thought]

In the sweetest bud
  The eating canker dwells.
      - [Decay]

In this state she gallops, night by night, o'er ladies' lips, who straight on kisses dream.
      - [Fairies]

In those holy fields,
  Over whose acres walk'd those blessed feet
    Which, fourteen hundred years ago, were nail'd
      For our advantage on the bitter cross.
      - [Christ]

In thy face I see the map of honor, truth, and loyalty.
      - [Face]
